Who We Are and What We Do

Welcome to London PTS. We offer a range of services, all designed to help you reach your own goals. Whether you're looking for Psychotherapy with an experienced and accredited Psychotherapist, or you're looking for coaching to achieve your goals or to find clarity in your life, we can help. Our services are fluid in terms of what you and your coach/therapist agree to, so you can get precisely what you need. Our Philosophy is based around Wellbeing. We believe that everyone should be able to make changes in their lives to improve their overall Wellbeing and we’re here to help you.

Our aim is to provide a safe, collaborative and empathic space to explore and empower, as well as learn techniques that can help you break out of unhelpful patterns, or achieve your goals and to overall improve your quality of life.

James and Natalie McCandless are a married couple, and met at work in the NHS several years ago. They specialise in different area's, and they also have affiliates who join the team on a sessional basis. 

About Us:

We are based in beautiful South West London, and we have offices in Wandsworth Town, Southfields and Putney.  We have worked in mental health settings for many years and have specifically trained in providing Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy and other variants recognised as being effective in treatment mental health difficulties. We are accredited by the British Association of Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) which requires us to work in accordance with the BABCP ethical guidelines and we attend regular training to ensure we are up-to-date with the latest interventions. Each therapist has developed specialist areas. We are aware that choosing a therapist can be a very difficult and important decision; so a brief overview of our approach may help you. We aim to be respectful, genuine, non-judgemental and supportive at all times. It is important to us that you feel safe and comfortable; so confidentiality is always guaranteed. Whilst in therapy we will work with you to ensure that you have a customised, evidence-based treatment plan that you have agreed to. This helps to ensure that the treatment you receive will be of a standard dictated nationally by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence.

Natalie McCandless

Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist/Life & Wellbeing Coach

Natalie has been working with people therapeutically since 2009. Having a background in Psychology and working with survivors of domestic abuse, Natalie studied to become a Psychotherapist and has worked in the NHS, private services and most recently with the Trauma and Counselling Service for the London Fire Brigade. Natalie has an interest in working with women, as well as a specialist interest in working with trauma, OCD and low self-esteem.

Natalie’s Coaching style utilises her Cognitive Behavioural training to help her clients achieve their goals, gain vision and clarity, and to make sense of their needs, as well as looking to the future and how to make their best life attainable. Natalie offers an individual, person centred, and compassionate approach with her clients.

Having become a Mother herself, Natalie has a particular interest in Coaching new Mothers, or Mothers wanting to change careers or to get a better work - life balance. Knowing very well the challenges that face new Mothers, Natalie has run regular supportive coffee mornings for NCT as well as setting up her own Support Group for Mothers who have experienced a traumatic birth, or Mothers who have been diagnosed with PND. Natalie is also looking to set up specialist coaching groups for new Mothers, and will be releasing dates soon.

When you begin work with Natalie she will help you to identify whether you would require psychotherapy or coaching to use the best approach for you. Natalie is accredited as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with the BABCP and has spent many years coaching others to meet their goals.


James McCandless

James has worked in mental health settings for over 10 years. Initially working in therapeutic communities treating clients with complex and enduring mental health problems.

In 2006 he worked for the Henderson Hospital in the NHS before joining the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies government initiative in London. James has been practising CBT since 2008 and has gained extensive experience of working with clients experiencing Depression and/or Anxiety problems. James continues to work in the NHS alongside his private work and is currently delivering CBT in a Specialist Eating Disorders Service. James also has experience of providing clinical supervision in CBT.

Specialist Interest

James' area of interest is in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and Social Phobia.

Our service offers an Integrative Approach to therapy, and therefore is flexible with your needs. We generally work with people experiencing Anxiety and Depressive Disorders, whether diagnosed or not.

What is involved?

  • An assessment to understand what is happening for you.

  • Goal Setting

  • Psychometric Testing *If appropriate

  • Treatment sessions as agreed by both parties, that focus on your current difficulty.

  • Relapse Prevention Plan.

Fees: £90 per hour face to face

£69 per hour online


We offer Coaching for individuals wanting to make real change in their lives. We focus on goals, balance and Wellbeing. The people we work with come from a range of backgrounds an experiences. We feel that everyone could benefit from having a coach - someone on your side, helping you to ‘think outside the box’, and to make real changes fast to improve your overall Wellbeing.

What Is Involved?

  • FREE initial appointment (online) to discover what is happening for you, to start making changes immediately, and to see if we would be a good fit to continue with Coaching.

  • Meeting Face to Face in a setting of your choosing, or going for a walk in the local area.

  • Meeting online *if required.

  • Psychometric Testing *if appropriate

  • Sessions once per week/fortnightly/monthly, as discussed in our first session.

  • Depending on Location, recommendations and links with excellent Wellbeing Services in the Local area.

  • Plan of action for you to take away.

Fees: £100 per 1 hour session face to face

£100 per 1 hour session online

£550 for a block of 6 sessions

Coaching For Mums

We love working with Mums! For a lot of Women, becoming a Mother will see their biggest identity shift they have ever and will ever go through. Our Coach, Natalie, will help you to make sense of your new identity, your birth story, link you in with local Mum groups, recommend local Baby services (*depending on location), and be there to offer support and advice on all things Mum. You also don’t have to be a new or first time Mother to benefit from this service - we work with Mums at all stages of their journey - even those whose babies have grown up and are flying the nest.

Natalie will also help to support your return to work should you require it, and to link you in with services that also offer support legally, emotionally and practically. Natalie has spent time building a network of amazing local services and experts who offer online services, so we meet Mothers all over the World!

If you live in the SW London area Natalie can meet you at a venue of your choosing, or we can go for a mindful walk and talk in the fresh air.

What Can I Expect?

  • Meeting face to face or online (with or without your baby - it’s up to you).

  • An assessment to get to know you.

  • Goal setting.

  • Sessions once per week/fortnightly/monthly as discussed and agreed in our first session.

  • Empower you to make changes that will be beneficial to you and your family.

  • Recommend excellent services locally and Nationwide as appropriate.

  • Refer to services/baby groups etc.

  • Help you to network with other Mums *if appropriate

  • Plan for return to work/change careers/stay at home *as appropriate

  • Have a Wellbeing action plan to take away.

pnd and birth trauma Support Groups - Free

These are free sessions, and our next Support Group is on Monday 11th February 2019 @ 2.30pm. It will be held at the Debenhams Cafe (3rd Floor) in Southside Shopping Centre, Wandsworth. The groups are then fortnightly until further notice.
